Well my first summer in Paris has past and I have finally got into the tri training and racing routine. The daily push ups, weekly sessions with upper body weights with my kettle bell and squats, short running trainings at the near by parks and the few bike and pool swim sessions I got in, where enough to get back on track with my athlete life.
Summer in Paris was very hot but it didn’t prevent me from getting out in the middle of the day to run, swim or bike. Little steps paid off, I lost the weight that I had gained during my Boston trip, I toned my legs and arms again and my swimming is as good as ever! Even my running has been improving.
The olympic race was fantastic, the artificial lake swim was super smooth, I was faster than many men in my tri team. The seaweed was nasty and stopped me a couple of times to detangle from it but I kept going what was a straight line swim. My biking was very slow and I couldn’t draft with the peloton. It was my worst part and signs that I have to work on my bike more. The run felt good, I completed it in the time I had set out to have my running pace! I got out there again to work on my bike with some of my training buddies and I found a way to train on my own at the Bois du Boulogne park and a pool in the south suburbs near Orsay. This fall I am planning to join the near by Pontoise pool again to get some swim in. With my routines in place for weights, runs and swims. I only have to schedule the bikes somehow and get over the fear of riding to my training destination with it. The weather in Paris is never as cold as in Boston so there is nothing to prevent me from training all fall and winter.
